Yesterday evening we had a great first 'WhatYaDoin?' event - a podium discussion with stakeholders for economic development in Bonn and NRW - Victoria Appelbe and Michael Kordus.
"WhatYaDoin?" is an interview and conversational style event, where our guests provide insights into their activities.
Victoria Appelbe has been Director of Economic Development, Property and Tourism at the City of Bonn since 2008. She started her career at the RWTH Aachen, coordinating projects with Eastern European universities, before becoming Head of Inward Investment and Regional Marketing at the Aachen Economic Development Agency, AGIT. Between 2005 and 2007, she also served on the executive committee of the EURADA network of regional development agencies. Heading the Bonn economic development, Victoria has taken over the responsibility for the continuing structural transition of the City of Bonn towards an international, services-oriented centre. Born and educated in the UK, she became a German citizen in 2016 following the Brexit vote in GB.
Michael Kordus is Head of Division Europe and North America at NRW.INVEST GmbH, the state-owned economic development agency. In this role he is responsible for the acquisition of investors and related Key Account Management for already existing companies / investors for the state of North Rhine Westphalia.
Michael started his professional career serving 12 years in the German Air Force, last acting as ACOS Intelligence at German Air Force Tactical Command at Cologne. After end of contract, Michael held several positions in the logistics sector, working for companies like Pecten Chemicals Inc., P&O Group and last as General Manager for Wincanton Trans European GmbH.
